Who’s Behind I-2109

I-2109 and two other initiatives (I-2124, I-2117) on this fall’s ballot appear to be politically motivated, sponsored by the chair of the Washington Republicans and a hedge fund millionaire. According to the Seattle Times’ Claire Withycombe in WA ballot initiatives: Pro and con campaigns gear up to woo WA voters:

“The initiatives were filed by state Republican Party Chair Jim Walsh… Redmond businessman Brian Heywood bankrolled the effort to get six total initiatives to the Legislature, to the tune of about $6 million.”

In another Seattle Times piece, reporter Jim Brunner says:

“Think Tim Eyman with a gigantic bank account.”
