fact sheet: I-2109 would drain millions from Washington’s economy

A new fact sheet from Washington Budget and Policy Center shows the devastating impact that Initiative 2109 would have on Washington’s economy. If passed, Initiative 2109 would result in a loss of over $5 billion in funding for education and childcare over a period of 6 years. Because parents depend on childcare to be able to work, this would have devastating effects for our state’s economy, including:

  • A loss of over 10,000 jobs per year

  • A reduction of $986 million in GDP

  • A loss of $1.2 billion in personal income

The analysis also shows the impact for each county in Washington.
